发明名称 Improvements in or relating to indicating instruments such as sensitive altimeters
摘要
429,921. Indicating - instruments. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION, 105, West Adams Street, Chicago, U.S.A. Nov. 4, 1933, No. 30691. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1932. Addition to 425,299. [Classes 106 (ii) and 106 (iv)] Comprises an indicating-instrument such as an altimeter wherein the indicating means may be preset under one condition for another condition to give a desired indication when the second condition is reached, in which a differential mechanism is introduced into the transmission as in the parent invention, but characterized in that the construction is modified so that the shaft carrying the planet pinions is journalled in a member rotatable about the axis of the indicating means to permit the presetting action. The aneroid capsules 10, 11, 12 are carried by a transversely extending rod 13 and transmit movement through pivoted links 17, 18 to a rock shaft 20. The shaft is mounted in jewelled bearings, and extending through it is a calibrating screw, one end of which engages the spring bracket 21. A counterweight 28 is also provided on the shaft. The rock shaft is also connected by a link 29 to a counterweight 31 resiliently supported by a leaf spring 35 to minimize vibration due to extraneous forces. The shaft 20 carries a sector 39 in gear with a pinion 41 mounted on a shaft 42 mounted in jewelled bearings and carrying a large wheel 50 gearing with a pinion 51 on a shaft 52 journalled in angularly movable plates 53, 54 which are secured to an arcuate member 55. The plates 53, 54 are journalled on bushes 43, 58. Gears 59, 68 on the shaft 52 mesh with a gear 60 on the shaft 61 of the pointer 63 and with a gear 69 on a hollow shaft 70 carrying the pointer 67, respectively, the gears being chosen so that the pointer 63 indicates hundreds and the pointer 67 thousands of feet on concentric dials. The arcuate member 55 is provided with worm teeth 83 meshing with a worm 79 which may be rotated by bevel gear 87, 88, 90, 91, 92 from a knob on the front of the instrument. The pointers may thus be adjusted at one airport to the height of a destination airport so that on landing at the latter the instrument reads zero, and that without unmeshing any of the transmission gears. The bevel gear 91 is on the operating shaft 96 of a counter visible at the front of the instrument and registering the height or other value to which the instrument has been set. In a modification, the counter is dispensed with and a third dial concentric with the others rotated by a gear from the knob 84 to indicate the setting.
