A washing machine is provided with a water tank for holding washing solution, a rotating drum enclosed in the water tank and holding the clothes, a housing tank equipped with the water tank and the rotating drum, and a suds-generating unit for generating suds and supplying the generated suds to the housing tank. Furthermore, the suds-generating unit is provided with a suds-generating chamber for retaining the washing solution supplied from a circulation pump. The washing solution supplied from the circulation pump collides with the liquid surface of the washing solution retained inside the suds-generating chamber. As a result, a washing machine with a simple configuration and capable of washing clothes efficiently with suds is provided.
