PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a soot generation model modeling the relation between engine operation parameters and a quantity of generated soot with a relatively small number of man-hours and with high accuracy, and appropriately exert a combustion control to suppress the quantity of generated soot using the soot generation model.SOLUTION: A combustion control is exerted using a soot generation model 31 modeling the relation between a plurality of operation parameters of an engine 1 and a quantity of soot QST generated by combustion. As data applied to construction of the soot generation model 31, data acquired by quasi-stationary measurement is used. In the quasi-stationary measurement, a parameter change velocity VCA is set to first and second change velocities VCA1 and VCA2 in a predetermined engine operating state in which the soot quantity QST is relative large, and the parameter change velocity VCA is set to a third change velocity VCA3 higher than the first and second change velocities VCA1 and VCA2 in operating states other than the predetermined engine operating state. |
