469,962. Making sheet glass. COMPAGNIES REUNIES DES GLACES ET VERRES SPECIAUX DU NORD DE LA FRANCE. Feb. 10, 1936, No. 3990. Convention date, June 13, 1935. [Class 56] A plant for manufacturing glass sheets comprises a number of tank furnaces each fitted with an outlet slot through which glass can flow continuously, and a rolling- apparatus and a leer which can be moved from one furnace to another, so that the glass can be worked out of one tank while glass is being melted in the others, and sheets of different colours can be produced with the one rolling and annealing apparatus. The tank furnaces 1a, 1b, 1c have their working ends 2 in line, and the rolling-apparatus 5 and the leer 9 are movable on rails 3, 6, respectively, along the fronts of the furnaces. The flow of glass through the outlet slots is controlled, or stopped when required, by gates which may be of the kind described in Specification 466,437, [Group XII]. The leer 9 may be of any suitable type, and it may be divided into a movable part A and a stationary part B. In this case, a part B is provided for each of the furnaces.
|
