Provided is a liquid crystal display device such that a liquid material for an alignment film can be prevented from intruding into a sealing material forming region, a sealing material can be prevented from peeling-off due to the deterioration of adhesion between the sealing material and a substrate, and a narrow frame can be achieved. A display panel 1 is provided with: a TFT substrate 2 and a CF substrate 3 having a rectangular shape and mutually joined with a sealing material 4 that is provided on the inner periphery sandwiched therebetween; a liquid crystal layer 5 provided between the substrates; an alignment film 6 provided on the TFT substrate 2, in the inner periphery of the sealing material 4, and near the CF substrate 3; and an irregular portion 27 provided between the alignment film 6 and the sealing material 4 and corrugated along the peripheral direction.
