A support structure supports a wireless interface at an elevation above cloud level, whereby the wireless interface has a line of sight to a satellite which remains substantially unobstructed by cloud. Earth and/or its atmosphere provides an upward force on the support structure to maintain said elevation. A ground station is connected to the wireless interface by a ground-to-air communication link between the ground station and the wireless interface. The wireless interface relays data bearing signals between the ground-to-air communication link and a wireless air-to satellite communication link between the wireless interface and the satellite, thereby effecting data communication between the ground station and the satellite. |
