A steam generating device for a washing machine, and a washing machine. The steam generating device comprises a heating pipe (4), the heating pipe (4) is connected to a heating control unit (6), a steam heating chamber is arranged above the heating pipe (4), and a cover plate assembly (53) for steam overflow and cold water replenishment is arranged above the steam heating chamber. A hot water pipe arranged at a bottom portion of a rear outer drum is provided with the steam heating chamber in a surrounding manner and matches the cover plate assembly so that the steam generating device continuously produces steam during washing. The steam generating device reduces space occupancy, decreases steam device costs, simplifies an assembly process, and is highly safe, stable and reliable. |
