[Class 52 (v)] An adjustable stand for a medical lamp comprises a vertical standard 1 carrying a twopart member 2 slidably secured thereon by means of ball-bearing spindles 7, 8, shaped as shown and secured in the member 2. A transverse member 3 comprises channel members 4 secured together at 5 and slidably supported through the member 2bymeansofdiscs 11 engaging the flanges of the channel members 4 and rotatably supported through the medium of ballbearing spindles 9, 10 carried by the member 2. The burner casing is carried by a member 6 secured at one end of the member 3. The member 2 is locked in place on the standard 1 by means of a screw 19 which presses a leaf spring against the standard 1. The transverse member 3 is clamped to the member 2 by means of a screw 14 which when screwed in tightens a screw-threaded nipple to press a fibre pin against the inner face of one of the members 4.
