PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short-cut fiber that can be manufactured advantageously in terms of cost and gives a wet-laid staple fiber nonwoven fabric having a low gas-permeability, and suitable for use in a filter or a separator having excellent performance.SOLUTION: The short-cut fiber for a wet-laid nonwoven fabric has a core-sheath type cross-sectional shape composed of two kinds of polyethylene terephthalate different in viscosity form each other. A high viscosity polyethylene terephthalate is arranged as a core part and a low viscosity polyethylene terephthalate is arranged as a sheath part and the difference in intrinsic viscosity between the high viscosity polyethylene terephthalate and the low viscosity polyethylene terephthalate is 0.05-0.13. The composite ratio of the core part to the sheath part is 20:80 to 80:20. Mechanical crimp is not given to the short-cut fiber for the wet-laid nonwoven fabric. |
