INSTRUMENTATION IDENTIFICATION AND RE-ORDERING SYSTEM

A method and system for automated verification of receipt, identification, and/or storage of surgical instruments. The system includes at least one image capture device that is structured to capture a captured data set of one or more surgical instruments. The captured data set may include at least an image of one or more surgical instruments, among other data. A control system may compare the captured data set to one or more of a plurality of reference data sets to identify one or more discrepancies, including the absence of a surgical instrument(s) in the captured data set. The system further includes a management system that is adapted to receive an identifier from the control system that corresponds to the discrepancies identified by the control system. Further, the management system is adapted to use the identifier to determine a course of action for the one or more surgical instruments.
