A brake control device is provided in a straddled vehicle having a wheel. The brake control device includes a fluid pressure control unit, a lateral sliding acceleration detection device and an ECU for ABS. The fluid pressure control unit supplies brake force to the wheel of the straddled vehicle. The ECU for ABS includes a CPU. The CPU detects longitudinal sliding of the wheel, and performs an antilock brake operation. In the antilock brake operation, the fluid pressure control unit is controlled such that a longitudinal sliding degree of the wheel becomes close to target magnitude. The lateral sliding acceleration detection device detects lateral sliding of the wheel. The CPU corrects the antilock brake operation to inhibit the lateral sliding of the wheel based on a result of detection of the lateral sliding of the wheel.
