In order to easily and precisely control imaging timing when capturing images of a moving object, an imaging device 10 comprises: an imaging unit 12 that captures images of a moving golf ball 20; a reflective optical sensor 14 that detects the presence of the golf ball 20 inside a detection range; and an imaging control unit 182. After detecting a golf ball 20 inside the detection range above a tee 24, the imaging control unit 182 controls the imaging timing for the imaging unit 12, if departure by the golf ball 20 from the detection range is detected and using the timing of the departure as a reference.
