The braking installation (1) comprises a pneumatic brake pipe (BP) which extends along the train, and wherein the pressure is controlled by a braking control apparatus (BCA) in the locomotive (L), an electrical power supply and communication line (EL) which extends along the train, and which is coupled to an electronic control unit (ECU) in the locomotive (L); and in each wagon (W) or in each group of wagons (W) associated with each other, an electronic module (EM) coupled to the electrical line (EL) through power supply and communication interface devices (I, II), and further connected to an electro-pneumatic control assembly (EPC) designed for driving pneumatic brake valve means (ELV). The interface means (I, II) comprise electronic processing and control means (MC, MCI) and a first transceiver means (TCI) adapted to allow an exchange of information and/or data with the electronic control unit (ECU) of the locomotive (L) through the electrical line (EL), for controlling the braking of the wagon (W) or group of wagons (W). In each wagon (W) or group of wagons (W) a local communication network or bus (b) is positioned between the interface means (I, I1) and the electronic module (EM), and a second transceiver (TC2) is also provided, this transceiver being coupled to the electrical line (EL) and operating on a frequency band which is different from, possibly overlapping but broader than, that of the first transceiver means (TC1). The processing and control means (MC, MC1) are designed for driving the second transceiver (TC2) when the first transceiver (TC1) is active and/or inactive, and for communicating to the electronic control unit (ECU) of the locomotive (L) information derived from the signals supplied by sensors (T1,..., Tn) to the electronic module (EM) and transferred by the latter to the interface devices (I, I1) through the local communication network or bus (b). |
