A process of preparing an alkoxylation catalyst wherein a catalyst precursor which is formed from an alkoxylated alcohol, calcium hydroxide, carboxylic acid, inorganic acid, and propylene oxide, is mixed with an antioxidant, preferably butylated hydroxyl toluene.
