A method for processing an image on the basis of an inter prediction mode and a system therefor are disclosed. Specifically, the method for processing an image on the basis of an inter prediction comprises the steps of: determining whether or not an inter prediction using multiple motion parameters is applied to a block constituting an image; decoding the multiple motion parameters when the multiple motion parameters are used; and generating a prediction block for the block using the multiple motion parameters, wherein the multiple motion parameters can be defined with a plurality of motion parameters selected from a candidate list of single motion parameters.
