A gastrectomy device (10), comprising: a tubular elongated member (12) defining a centerline that extends through proximal and distal ends thereof, the elongate member (12) defining a side opening (12a); and a shape modification member (16) being movable through the side opening (12a) of the elongated member (12) and relative to the centerline of the elongated member between a first state, adjacent to the elongated member (12), and a second state, spaced from the elongated member (12), the shape modification member (16) configured to conform to a portion of a patient's stomach in the second state, at least a portion of the shape modification member (16) including lights, and the elongated member (12) defining a lumen that extends longitudinally therethrough, the elongated member defining at least one aperture in the distal end thereof that is in fluid communication with the lumen.
