Systems and methods for droplet generation are suitable for use in connection with goniometers. Via preferential condensation, droplets of a variety of liquids may be formed at a variety of temperatures and pressures, eliminating the need for expensive and complex conventional droplet generation systems. Condensation and evaporation of a droplet may be controlled in order to evaluate advancing and receding contact angles in the goniometer.

1. A droplet generation system, comprising:
a temperature control component; a thermal insulator; and a thermal conductor coupled to the temperature control component, the thermal conductor disposed at least partially within the thermal insulator and having a tip portion not surrounded by the thermal insulator, wherein the tip portion is configured to form, via condensation, a droplet thereon responsive to operation of the temperature control component and responsive to exposure of the tip portion to a vapor.
