An assembly for loading a self-expanding prosthetic heart valve (100) into a delivery device, includes a compression member (202) having a longitudinal axis, a first open end (208) with a first diameter, a second open end (306, 313, 315) with a second diameter less than the first diameter, and a wall decreasing in diameter from the first open end (208) to the second open end (306, 313, 315), a support member (204) having a longitudinal axis, a base and a recess (226) extending along the longitudinal axis and adapted to receive an end (306, 313, 315) of the valve (100), the support member (204) and the compression member (202) being movable between an initial position and an operative position, and a substantially tubular restrainer (250) disposed within the support member (204) and, in the operative position of the compression member (202) and the support member (204), defining a passageway (255) for accepting a portion of the delivery device and leaflets (112) of the valve (100) when the valve (100) is assembled on the support member (204). |
