Disclosed is an insertable filter unit (30) for a smoking article filter (20), the insertable filter unit (30) comprising a smoke modifying substance, wherein the smoke modifying substance is stored in a frangible capsule (42) contained within the insertable filter unit (30). Also disclosed is a kit of parts comprising the insertable filter unit (30) and a smoking article filter (20) comprising a recess (25) for receiving the insertable filter unit (30). Further disclosed is a smoking article (10) comprising the smoking article filter (20), the smoking article (10) having the insertable filter unit (30) inserted in to the recess (25) of the smoking article filter (20).
