A method for fitting a tyre onto a rim or removing a tyre from a rim envisages that a wheel or rather a tyre/rim assembly or the rim only is rotated by an electric motor (12), preferably of an asynchronous type, about an axis (A), the supply current of the electric motor (12) being controlled by varying the frequency and/or amplitude and/or supply voltage of said motor (12). It is envisaged that the supply current is automatically varied in order to impart to the electric motor (12) an optimum torque/speed combination based on the fitting/removal operating conditions. A device in which the above-mentioned method is implemented is also claimed. |
