ARRESTING BLEEDING TOURNIQUET

The invention relates to medical equipment, particularly to devices for temporary hemostasis from an injured extremity. The arresting bleeding tourniquet comprises a tourniquet itself made of a flat non-elastic band (1) provided with a Velcro fastener. Bracing straps (2) and (3) are provided in the inside cavity of the flat non-elastic band (1) on either side of it. One end of the flat band (1) is fastened to a locking clamp (4) under which a resilient pad (5) is fixed, while the other end of the flat band (1) is connected to a locking tongue provided with a resilient insert (6). The outer surface of the flat band (1) carries a tightening mechanism comprising a base (7), a coil (8) disposed in the middle of the base (7), and a lever (10) mounted in the central through hole of the coil (8). Lateral end surfaces of the coil (8) have paired through holes to accommodate bracing straps (2) and (3). The radial shaft of the coil (8) has through holes to accommodate bracing straps (2) and (3). Arrest of bleeding is performed by rotation of the coil (8) about its longitudinal axis by means of the lever (10). As a result, straps (2) and (3) are twisted and the non-elastic band (1) is tensioned on both sides at the same time. The flat band (1) comprises a second locking clamp (14) and a timer (15) to indicate time of the tourniquet application. The invention provides simpler design of the arresting bleeding tourniquet, makes more convenient and reduces the time of the tourniquet application on the injured extremity; facilitates tightening of the tourniquet and arrest of bleeding which can be fast performed with one hand.
