PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defoaming agent for a water-based paint capable of adding defoaming property and improving coating defects such as cissing or craters derived from an involved foam, and providing improvement of a coating appearance without releasing a fluorocarbon solvent into the atmosphere by mixing a small amount in the water-based paint.SOLUTION: The defoaming agent is formed by adding a compound clathrating perfluorocarbon having 6 to 18 carbon atoms, hydrofluorocarbon having 6 to 18 carbon atoms and/or hydrofluoroether having 6 to 18 carbon atoms in &bgr;-cyclodextrin or its modified product as a defoaming improver to an existing defoaming agent for a water-based paint at a percentage of 1 to 20 wt.% per 80 to 99 wt.% of the defoaming agent. |
