PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pinion shaft reducing a heat treatment process and enabling a cost reduction.SOLUTION: A pinion shaft 5 includes a surface layer formed on a surface sliding against a moving body, the surface layer being cured by performing a carbonitriding treatment, a wave quenching, and an annealing, wherein a surface hardness Hv thereof is 650-900, an amount of residual austenite in the surface layer is 20-50 vol.%, an average amount of residual austenite is 10 vol.% or less, a softening treatment by annealing is performed on both ends thereof at a high frequency at 600°C to A1 transformation point, and the hardness thereof is Hv150-350. |
