摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether a combustion system employed at present is a SI system or a HCCI system and switch circuit characteristics of an ion current detection circuit so as to be suitable for each system, in an internal combustion engine that can be operated by switching between the SI system and the HCCI system.SOLUTION: An ion current detection device 20 is assembled in an igniter for an internal combustion engine in which both systems of a SI system and a HCCI system can be selected and operated, and can switch circuit characteristics suitable for ion current detection when operated between the SI system and the HCCI system by receiving an instruction signal transmitted from a circuit characteristic switching circuit when detecting an ion current obtained after fuel combustion. The circuit characteristic switching circuit is configured to determine whether the operation is currently performed by the SI system or the HCCI system, by determination results of a frequency determination circuit 50 that determines the frequency of an on/off signal applied to a switching element for switching on/off a primary current of an ignition coil, and to transmit the instruction signal.
