[Class 83 (iii)] In a lathe tool-rest of the kind in which a tool-holding member 2 is adapted to be clamped to the tool-rest proper 1 by means of a rotatable locking member 18 with an eccentric stem portion 20, Fig. 6, two parts 22, 23, are arranged on opposite sides of the locking member which are adjustable and so arranged that when turning the locking member one or other of these parts is subjected to direct pressure by the eccentric portion of the locking member. The tool-holding member 2 carries heightadjusting screws 24 which bear on ledges at the corners of the tool-rest proper 1. The adjustable abutment parts 22, 23, Fig. 6, are carried in slidable members 6, flanges 7, Fig. 4, on the ends of which engage a recess 8 in the tool-holding member and serve to clamp it against the ledge surfaces 3 of the tool-rest where the locking members 18 are turned by a handle 19, Fig. 6. The tool-rest is fastened to the lathe slide by a clamping bolt 37 and its position determined, prior to clamping, by a pin 34 which passes into a recess in the slide. |
