A cleaning and drying towel, suitable for improved hygiene, has designated regions. The towel which has an inner and outer face has a main area 7 which may be used to dry the users body generally. The outer face includes a number of bands 5 which are of different weight or depth of material giving different textural or absorbency characteristics. The towel has a number of pockets, each being accessible via a slit 2 and including an extendable portion. In use, the user may put their hand through the pocket to the extendable region and manipulate it to be in contact with a designated region on the body. Different pockets are designated for cleaning or drying different designated regions of the body. The towel may have slanted or tapered sides 6 which help to identify different ends of the towel.
