PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage battery apparatus for railway vehicles having improved safety with occurrence of electric shocks prevented.SOLUTION: A storage battery apparatus comprises a storage battery 20, a main circuit 24 controlling the charging of the storage battery, a breaker 26 arranged between the storage battery and the main circuit to cut their connection and link them, a voltage-withstanding connector connected to the main circuit for short-cutting, a cover 50 covering the voltage-withstanding connector and being openable and closable, a first lock mechanism 64 locking an on/off switch of the breaker at the off position and allowing a locking operation and an unlocking operation with a key and a second lock mechanism 74 configured so as to allow a locking operation and an unlocking operation with a key common to the first lock mechanism and locking the cover at the closing position. The first and second lock mechanisms each allow locking and allow plugging and unplugging of the key only in the locked state so that, after the switch is locked at the off position by the first lock mechanism, an unlocking operation of the second lock mechanism is feasible with the key removed from the first lock mechanism. |
