摘要 The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for controlling an engine clutch of a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), and more specifically, to an apparatus and a method for controlling an engine clutch of a hybrid electric vehicle which block engine fuel in an early stage when an engine clutch is released when switching from an HEV mode to an electric vehicle (EV) mode. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for controlling an engine clutch of a hybrid electric vehicle comprises: an engine and a drive motor which are power sources of a hybrid electric vehicle; an engine clutch positioned between the engine and the drive motor to selectively connect the engine and the drive motor; and a vehicle controller to control release or connection of the engine clutch to realize a driving mode. The vehicle controller stops spraying engine fuel and releases the engine clutch according driving state information when the engine clutch is in a slip state when switching from an HEV mode to an EV mode.
