摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head which is excellent in wear resistance and can perform high-speed printing.SOLUTION: A thermal head 7 has a glaze layer 35 formed on a head substrate 21, a heat generation part 22a, a heat insulation layer 36 and a wear resistance layer 37. The glaze layer 35 has a protrusion A whose cross section has a mountain shape and which is vertical with respect to the surface 21a of the head substrate 21 and parallel with the conveyance direction C of heat sensing paper 101, and the heat generation part 22a is formed at an apex portion of the protrusion A. The heat insulation layer 36 is formed by contacting with the protrusion A in the conveyance direction C of the heat sensing paper 101 with respect to the heat generation part 22a, and makes the heat generation part 22a exposed upwardly. By this, since the glaze layer 35 and the heat insulation layer 36 can receive a load for pressing the heat sensing paper 101 against the thermal head 7, the load is not concentrated on the heat generation part 22a, and wear is suppressed. Furthermore, since a heat accumulation amount is not increased without increasing a volume of the glaze layer 35, a temperature of the heat generation part 22a is quickly lowered when electricity carrying is stopped. Accordingly, high-speed printing becomes possible.
