A method for distributing file requests of adaptive streaming multimedia is provided, wherein the file requests distribution is performed before the file requests are received by the adaptive streaming delivery application and comprises applying a delay to a group of received requests defined in a given time interval based on at least one smoothing parameter. This step is repeated for each given time interval for redistributing the received file requests and delivering the requested multimedia content to the requesting client according to the requests distribution.The requests received from the client in a burst are redistributed by introducing a maximum delay in some of them, the ones belonging to a group meeting, e.g.: an estimated file size, a maximum tolerated burst, a maximum available bandwidth, a maximum smoothing delay, a range of IP addresses. This distribution avoids the bursting in the network that causes the TCP congestion at the server output. |
