A solar cell having improved photoelectric conversion efficiency is provided. Said solar cell is provided with the following: a substrate (10n) comprising a semiconductor material; an essentially intrinsic i-type semiconductor layer (11ia); an amorphous semiconductor layer (11na); a microcrystalline semiconductor layer (13nc); another microcrystalline semiconductor layer (13pc); and another amorphous semiconductor layer (12pa). The i-type semiconductor layer (11ia) is disposed on top of one principal surface (10b) of the substrate (10n), one amorphous semiconductor layer (11na) is disposed on top of part of the i-type semiconductor layer (11ia), one microcrystalline semiconductor layer (13nc) is disposed on top of said amorphous semiconductor layer (11na), the other microcrystalline semiconductor layer (13pc) is disposed on top of said microcrystalline semiconductor layer (13nc), and the other amorphous semiconductor layer (12pa) is disposed across the top of said microcrystalline semiconductor layer (13pc) and the top of the part of the i-type semiconductor layer (11ia) exposed by said microcrystalline semiconductor layer (13pc). Said amorphous semiconductor layer (12pa) and said microcrystalline semiconductor layer (13pc) are in contact with each other. |
