A refractory, which is particularly suitable for use in an inner lining of a blast furnace, is obtainable by a process including the following steps:
a) providing a mixture containing
- coke,
- silicon and
- binder,
b) forming a green block from the mixture provided in step a),
c) baking the green block of step b) and
d) semi-graphitizing the baked block of step c) at a temperature between 1600 and 2000 °C.
