A fan assembly, eg a desk, tower or pedestal fan, comprises a body 12 having an air inlet 22 and an air outlet and means, eg an impeller, for generating an air flow through the body. A nozzle 16 is provided for receiving the air flow from the body 12 and for emitting the air flow. A filter 14, eg a removable tubular barrel-type filter, is located upstream from the air inlet 22 and is supported on an upwardly facing surface of a seat, eg an annular flange 54, on the body 12. Sealing means 56, (130, figs.4,5a) form a seal between the filter 14 and the body 12 to define a flow path between the downstream surface of the filter 24 and the air inlet 22. The body 12 may comprise a main body section 50 and lower section 52. The sealing means may comprise a lower annular seal 56 around the main body section 50 at its junction with the flange 54, and an upper annular seal (130, figs.4,5a) on the base of the nozzle 16. |
