<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that a conventional heavy metal-treating agent of divalent iron had a problem in terms of safety and handling in treating a heavy metal-contaminated material which is multiply contaminated with harmful cationic and anionic species, and had an insufficient performance in treating the heavy metal. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a heavy metal-treating agent including a water-soluble divalent iron compound and an aliphatic α-hydroxycarboxylic acid and/or a salt thereof.The heavy metal-treating agent has high storage stability as an aqueous solution, can highly insolubilize not only hexavalent chromium but arsenic and selenium, and can perform highly reliable heavy metal treatment. In addition, since the pH of the aqueous solution can be relatively high, there are few problems of corrosion, and harmful gas is not produced in the combined use with other chelating agents. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
