PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable bending and cutting life prediction method and a device capable of accurately predicting the bending and cutting life of a cable including a conductor having a plurality of strands.SOLUTION: Initial stress amplitude and average stress generated in an initial nonabraded conductor strand are obtained from the bending condition and the conductor structure of a cable. The cross-sectional area of the conductor strand is obtained for each bending frequency in view of abrasion between the conductor strands when the cable is bent. Stress frequency and average stress are obtained for each bending frequency from the ratio of the obtained cross-sectional area with the initial cross-sectional area of the conductor strand and the initial stress amplitude and the average stress. A fatigue damage degree is obtained for each bending frequency based on the stress amplitude and the average stress for each bending frequency and material property of the conductor strand. A bending frequency at which the conductor strand is broken is obtained by accumulating fatigue damage degrees for each bending frequency. The obtained bending frequency is predicted as the bending and cutting life of the cable. |
