[Class 18] A box-making machine having a plunger 9 co-operating with a conveyer pocket 14 to fold or bend the flaps of a cardboard or like blank as described in Specification 508,466 has a punch 11 affixed to the plunger plate 8 to press a disc like portion 3 of the blank out of the normal plane of the blank. The disc like portion is defined by two arcuate slots 2 interrupting the hinge line 1 of the box lid as described in Specification 517,947 and is pressed by the punch before or during the bending of the blank along the hinge line 1 under the influence of the plunger blade 12, plate 8, and pocket edge 13. The punch 11 may have a sharp edge to form a crease 4, in the disc 3. |
