PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheath material for a lithium ion battery which is high in adhesion with a base material layer and has a base material protective layer to exhibit excellent scratch resistance in addition to sufficient moldability and electrolyte resistance.SOLUTION: A sheath material 1 for a lithium ion battery is formed by laminating a base material protective layer 18, a third adhesion layer 17, a base material layer 11, a first adhesion layer 12, a metal foil layer 13, an anti-corrosion treatment layer 14, a second adhesion layer 15 and a sealant layer 16 in this order from the outside. The base material protective layer 18 contains water-soluble polysaccharides (A) which are dissolved at 85°C by 1 pt.mass or more on the basis of 100 pts.mass of an alcohol aqueous solution containing water or alcohols, and the polymerization degree of the water-soluble polysaccharides (A) on the side opposite to the base material layer is higher than that of the water-soluble polysaccharides (A) on the side of the base material layer. |
