PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat generation rate waveform creating device capable of defining a combustion state of fuel in a cylinder of an internal combustion engine at high accuracy, and a combustion state diagnosing device.SOLUTION: When fuel injected in a cylinder, for example, of a diesel engine is individually injected to inside and outside of a cavity provided on a piston and discontinuously combusted, an amount of unburnt fuel is individually estimated for individual injection fuel for discontinuous combustion, so as to produce an ideal heat generation rate waveform model based on an effective injection amount obtained by subtracting an estimation value. The ideal heat generation rate waveform model is smoothed and synthesized by filter-processing, so as to produce the ideal heat generation rate waveform. Whether abnormality occurs or not is diagnosed by comparing the ideal heat generation rate waveform with an actual heat generation rate waveform. |
