The invention relates to a smoke generating device (11) for generating smoke for treating food using smokable goods (8), comprising a receiving chamber (23) for the smokable goods (8) and a friction device (41) which has a friction surface (42) that faces the receiving chamber (23) for abrading the smokable goods (8). The smokable goods (8) can be moved relative to the friction surface (42) of the friction device (41) and in a direction parallel to said surface by means of a drive device (16) in order to generate the smoke. The smokable goods (8) are arranged in the receiving chamber (23) so as to be guided over the friction surface (42) of the friction device (41) eccentrically to a center (45) of said friction surface during the operation of the drive device (16). |
