The present invention relates to an image processing apparatus and an image processing method for processing three-dimensional image data. The image processing apparatus obtains image data comprising at least a frame and a depth map associated with the frame, detects a gaze point of a user on the display area, determines a depth value at the position in the depth map corresponding to the identified gaze point and blurs an area in the frame based on the difference between the determined depth value and the depth value in the depth map corresponding to the area in the frame. In this way, a user will get a three-dimensional impression of a displayed frame, even though such a frame is displayed only on a two-dimensional surface. Hence, a three-dimensional impression can be achieved without the need of additional components such as special glasses and without the need of a special surface on which the image data are displayed on. |
