Provided is a white light emitting device capable of preventing that a specific wavelength region protrudes at a light emission spectrum, and enabling an appearance with a color tone similar to sunlight. A white light emitting device includes a light-emitting diode emitting light having a light emission intensity peak at a wavelength region of from 350 to 490 nm and a phosphor layer emitting white light in response to excitation by the light of the light-emitting diode. The phosphor layer includes a plurality of phosphors each having a light emission intensity peak different from one another at a wavelength region of from 420 to 700 nm.
