According to the present invention, a method for controlling the standby power of a mobile terminal includes the steps of: detecting applications and services related to a background operation; classifying properties of the detected applications and services; predicting a usage pattern of the applications and services with classified properties in consideration of a user′s response to the applications and services with the classified properties; and controlling the applications and services with the classified properties based on the predicted usage pattern and the applications and services with the classified properties.
