This prime mover control device of a work vehicle having a torque converter is provided with a speed ratio calculation unit which calculates the speed ratio between the input shaft and the output shaft of the torque converter, and a rotational speed limiting unit which, when the speed ratio is within a preset speed ratio range, limits the maximum rotational speed of the prime mover to be lower than the maximum rotational speed in the case that the speed ratio is outside of the preset speed ratio range, wherein, if a prescribed time has elapsed in the state in which the speed ratio calculated by the speed ratio calculation unit is within the preset speed ratio range, then the rotational speed limiting unit changes the maximum rotational speed of the prime mover to a maximum rotational speed which is higher than the maximum rotational speed that was limited to a lower value by the rotational speed limiting unit.
