Provided are a laser machining device and a laser machining method with which power efficiency can be improved and the noise level of a fan can be lowered. This laser machining device is provided with a laser light emission unit for emitting laser light, a Peltier element for cooling or heating the laser light emission unit, and a heat sink formed from a heat-radiating material and used to radiate heat conducted from the laser light emission unit and the Peltier element, the laser light emission unit being cooled or heated by the Peltier element and kept at a target temperature; wherein the laser machining device is also configured so as to be provided with a fan for cooling the heat sink, a temperature difference detector for detecting the temperature difference between the temperature of the laser light emission unit and the temperature in the surroundings of the heat sink, and a fan controller for controlling the rotational speed of the fan in accordance with the temperature difference detected via the temperature difference detector. |
