1. A method for storing cell nuclei comprising:
selectively lysing the cytoplasmic membranes and a small proportion of the nuclear membranes present in a cellular sample to leave a large proportion of the cell nuclei intact, collecting said cellular sample on a solid support, washing said solid support, and storing said intact nuclei on the solid support at ambient temperature.
