PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion adsorption material which can adsorb both of cations and anions and has excellent efficiency of removing cations and anions which are target ions of regulation, and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: Provided is an ion adsorption material having a structure where zeolites are bound by a hydrotalcite-like compound and having both cation adsorptivity and anion adsorptivity. The ion adsorption material can be produced by a method comprising the following steps: a step (1) of preparing a raw material (A) containing a zeolite and an alkaline solution; a step (2) of preparing a raw material (B) containing a precursor of the hydrotalcite-like compound by dissolving a soluble salt containing a divalent metal (M) and a soluble salt containing a trivalent metal (M) in a solvent containing mainly water; a step (3) of obtaining a slurry containing the ion adsorption material having zeolites and a hydrotalcite-like material bound by contacting the raw material (A) and the raw material (B).
