The invention relates to pharmaceutical industry, in particular to branched acyl azide pegylating agent, capable of binding to free amino groups of proteins with formation of amide bond by reaction of azide condensation, as well as to a method for preparing the same and method for pegylation of biologically active proteins, for instance, interferons. The invention provides the method for preparing branched acyl azide agent and respective method for pegylation of interferons (IFN), in particular IFN α-2b. Technical results of the invention include pegylating agent, capable of binding to free amino groups of proteins with formation of amide bond by means of azide condensation without causing racemisation, oxidation and/or aggregation of substrate, and the method for preparing the same.
