The invention relates to a method for increasing the temperature of a furnace gas that is produced at the blast furnace head (5) in a blast furnace (1) and is conducted out of the blast furnace (1) via vertical ducts (6). In the method, the furnace gas is mixed at the blast furnace head (5) and/or in the vertical ducts (6) with waste combustion gases from at least one burner (11) attached to the blast furnace head (5) and/or vertical ducts (6). The waste combustion gases have a higher temperature than the furnace gas.
