PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect foreign substances in an area in the sub scanning direction including a reading position.SOLUTION: An image reading device (U1) includes: a reading member (11) that reads an image of a document (Gi) at a reading position (P1) preset on a conveyance path (GH); and foreign substance determination means (C8) for moving, when the reading member (11) reads the image of the document (Gi), a light source (La) with respect to the reading position (P1) before the document (Gi) is conveyed, and determining the presence of foreign substances between an upstream position (P2) and the reading position (P1) on the basis of the image read when the light source (La) is moved.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
