PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress variation in the length of time required to reduce a back clearance caused by variation in the magnitude of the back clearance without controlling clutch engagement pressure in accordance with the variation in the magnitude of the back clearance.SOLUTION: According to an electronic control apparatus 20, when a clutch C2 is engaged, a back clearance of the clutch C2 due to clutch drum negative pressure P' as back pressure of a clutch drum 66 to a back pressure chamber 88 is enlarged, the back clearance is reduced by C2 clutch pressure Pto a piston chamber 80, the pressure that reduces a back clearance in given time so that a back clearance is not eliminated in a case where the back clearance is at a minimum due to variation in the back clearance among vehicles.
